Who we are?

Promote well-being and improvement of quality of life

PHARUS is an organization composed of a team of health professionals united by the same classical understanding of the human being with a catholic perspective. Our aim is to collaborate in the restoration of the affective powers of the person, integrating them into the human whole; aiming at the fullness of his being. A psychotherapist at PHARUS must ensure that the patient strengthens in an ever deeper way the rationality of his heart and the cordiality of his reason.

Our anthropological vision is based on the classical wisdom, in particular Aristotle, enhanced by St. Thomas Aquinas. From this common philosophical base, each professional is inserted in his area of intervention following the same fundamental parameters. And from this integral vision of the human being, the pragmatic lines for a psychotherapy, respectful of human nature, are projected.

Brief History

"Light that is emitted illuminating people"

Our project was born in 2007 as an initiative of young professionals and students of Psychology and related careers, pursuing a solid formation in an adequate anthropology, studying Psychology from a realistic and classical perspective. From the very beginning our foundation was called CEyTEC (Spanish acronym for Center for the Study and Treatment of Behavioral Diseases) and since then we have counted with the presence of the honorary member and our main advisor, Father Dr. Miguel Angel Fuentes.

After 16 years of work; in order to transcend the what had been done and due to the demand in many parts of the world for our Foundation, we decided to create therapeutic teams with the same characteristics in Europe and the United States, under the name of PHARUS.

With the aim of unifying and presenting a name which better symbolizes what we want, we decided to make PHARUS the new name of our Foundation; not only in Europe and the United States but at a global level.

PHARUS, in Latin, means Lighthouse. By choosing this name we wanted to symbolize and represent our central mission that we have been carrying our since the beginning:

The function of the lighthouse summarizes the task and the mission that the therapist fulfills on the psychological level. On the one hand, it becomes a point of reference in the midst of darkness, gloom and storm. And on the other hand, it emanates a light that illuminates the way; enabling people suffering from psychological difficulties not to go astray or crash against the shore reefs; thus reaching the port they are yearning for.  It also sums up the vocation of those who want to help others: light that is emanated so as to enlighten people in everything they ignore and also light that acts as a point of reference for people counting on someone who gives them hope.

In this way we strive to be a Foundation that can collaborate in seeking solutions of current and concrete problems but that does not lose sight of what the human being is and should be according to his nature.
